The 30 Gallon Hazmat Overpack Spill Kit is a compact industrial emergency-response system designed for chemical, corrosive, hazardous, and other aggressive liquid spills. High-visibility yellow Hazmat absorbents make the chemical-response kit easy to identify while pads, socks, pillows, PPE, and disposal supplies remain protected inside a reusable screw-top overpack.

With up to 36 gallons of absorption capacity, the HZSK-30 provides substantial chemical-response capability in a relatively compact footprint. The overpack measures approximately 21 inches in diameter × 28.5 inches high and is well suited to chemical handling areas, laboratories, industrial processing operations, hazardous-material storage locations, maintenance departments, and EHS response stations.

AT A GLANCE

30 Gallon Hazmat Overpack Spill Kit

A compact chemical spill-response kit with up to 36 gallons of absorption capacity. The HZSK-30 combines high-visibility yellow Hazmat absorbents, PPE and disposal supplies in a reusable UN-approved 30-gallon overpack.

36 Gallon Absorption Capacity

Provides meaningful response capacity for small-to-medium chemical spill events.

Hazmat Chemical Absorbents

High-visibility yellow absorbents are intended for aggressive and hazardous liquid spill response.

Compact Overpack Format

Keeps chemical-response absorbents, PPE and disposal supplies organized in one protected screw-top container.

Why Choose a 30 Gallon Hazmat Overpack Spill Kit?

  • Chemical-response absorbents: Yellow Hazmat absorbents are intended for aggressive and hazardous liquid spills where general-purpose or oil-only absorbents may not be appropriate.
  • 36-gallon absorption capacity: Provides substantial chemical-response capability without requiring the footprint of a larger 50-, 65- or 95-gallon spill station.
  • High-visibility yellow: Makes Hazmat response materials easy to distinguish from gray Universal and white Oil-Only absorbents.
  • Contain + absorb: Long Hazmat socks help surround or redirect spreading liquid while pads and pillows absorb shallow and pooled material.
  • Complete response system: Includes absorbents, disposal bags, goggles, nitrile gloves and an Emergency Response Guidebook.
  • Reusable UN-approved overpack: The secure screw-top container provides organized storage and can be staged near higher-risk chemical handling areas.

Verify Chemical Compatibility Before Response

“Hazmat” does not mean universally compatible with every chemical. Identify the spilled material when possible, review the applicable SDS, verify absorbent compatibility, and determine the required PPE and response procedures before approaching or cleaning up a hazardous spill.

How to Use

  1. Assess the hazard: Identify the spilled material when possible and review the applicable SDS and facility response procedures before approaching the spill.
  2. Stage the kit safely: Position the overpack at a safe response point while maintaining appropriate access and escape routes.
  3. Select appropriate PPE: PPE requirements depend on the chemical and exposure hazard. Included gloves and goggles may not be sufficient for every chemical spill.
  4. Contain the spill: Position Hazmat socks around the spill perimeter or near drains and adjacent work areas to help limit migration.
  5. Absorb the liquid: Use pads for shallow surface liquid and pillows for pooled or higher-volume areas.
  6. Collect used materials: Place saturated absorbents into the supplied disposal bags or another chemically compatible waste container.
  7. Dispose properly: Manage used absorbents according to the hazards of the absorbed material and all applicable facility and regulatory requirements.

Choose the Right Spill Kit

Kit Type Best For Absorbent Color
Universal Oil, coolant, water & other non-aggressive liquids Gray
Oil-Only Oil, diesel, fuel & petroleum-based liquids; especially around water White
Hazmat Chemical, corrosive, hazardous & other aggressive liquids Yellow

Not Sure Which Absorbent Type You Need?

Choose Hazmat for aggressive or hazardous chemical response, Universal for routine mixed industrial liquids, and Oil-Only when petroleum-based liquids must be absorbed while repelling water.

30 Gallon vs. Larger Hazmat Spill Kits

The 30-gallon overpack format provides a useful balance of chemical-response capacity and compact storage. With up to 36 gallons of absorbency, the HZSK-30 can be positioned close to higher-risk chemical areas without requiring the footprint of a larger response station.

Facilities planning for larger chemical spill scenarios may prefer a 50 Gallon Wheeled Spill Kit , 65 Gallon Hazmat Spill Kit , or 95 Gallon Wheeled Spill Kit .

Distributed Chemical Spill Preparedness

The HZSK-30 is particularly useful when multiple Hazmat response stations need to be positioned near chemical storage, processing, transfer, laboratory, maintenance or utility areas rather than relying on one large centralized kit.

Important Chemical Spill Response Note

A spill kit is only one component of hazardous-material emergency response. Appropriate action may also depend on chemical identification, ventilation, ignition hazards, evacuation requirements, specialized PPE, respiratory protection, containment requirements, and trained response personnel.

Do not approach or clean up a hazardous spill unless personnel are trained, equipped, and authorized for the situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much liquid can the HZSK-30 absorb?
The kit provides up to 36 gallons of absorption capacity.
What types of spills is the HZSK-30 intended for?
The Hazmat configuration is intended for chemical, corrosive, hazardous, and other aggressive liquid spills. Always verify chemical compatibility and follow SDS and facility-response guidance.
What is included in the HZSK-30?
The kit includes 25 Hazmat pads, six 12-foot socks, six pillows, three disposal bags, nitrile gloves, goggles and an Emergency Response Guidebook.
How large is the 30-gallon overpack?

How much does the complete kit weigh?
The complete HZSK-30 weighs approximately 41 lbs.
Does the kit include PPE?
Yes. The kit includes nitrile gloves and goggles. These should not be assumed adequate for every chemical; additional chemical-specific PPE may be required.
Can Hazmat absorbents be used with any chemical?
No spill absorbent should be assumed compatible with every chemical. Identify the material when possible and verify compatibility, SDS guidance and required PPE before response.
Where should a 30-gallon Hazmat spill kit be staged?
Stage the kit near higher-risk chemical storage, processing, laboratory, loading, transfer or maintenance areas where it remains visible and accessible without positioning personnel directly in a likely spill path.
