Overview

Ultra-Clear® by Oil-Dri is a high-performance attapulgite clarification media developed for the removal of polar contaminants from jet fuel, industrial oils, renewable-fuel feedstocks, waxes, and other specialty process liquids.

Its highly active, durable granules adsorb oil-soluble surfactants, organometallic compounds, color bodies, free fatty acids, water, oxidation products, particulate matter, and other polar contaminants. Multiple mesh grades allow processors to balance flow rate, contact time, and filtration requirements for their specific equipment and application.

Primary applications

  • Jet fuel clarification: Removal of surfactants, organometallic compounds, particulate matter, and other contaminants that may affect fuel specifications
  • Renewable-fuel feedstock treatment: Pre-treatment of oils and feedstocks containing polar compounds, free fatty acids, color bodies, and related impurities
  • Industrial oil clarification: Adsorption of contaminants from process oils, lubricants, and specialty fluids
  • Wax and specialty-liquid purification: Removal of color bodies, oxidation products, water, and other polar contaminants
  • General process clarification: Granular treatment media for applications requiring strong particles, consistent sizing, and reliable flow characteristics

Why choose Ultra-Clear®?

  • High-activity attapulgite media designed for demanding clarification processes
  • Adsorbs surfactants, organometallic compounds, color bodies, free fatty acids, water, and particulate contamination
  • Excellent particle strength helps resist attrition, reduce dust, and prevent plugging
  • Consistent particle sizing supports predictable process performance
  • Low bulk density reduces the weight required to fill treatment towers and vessels
  • Multiple mesh grades provide flexibility when balancing flow rate and contact time
  • Manufactured under Oil-Dri’s quality assurance program

Available mesh grades

Ultra-Clear® is offered in multiple particle-size ranges for use with different processing equipment, flow requirements, and contact-time targets.

Grade Relative particle size
8/16 mesh Coarse
16/30 mesh Coarse to intermediate
30/60 mesh Intermediate to fine
60/90 mesh Fine

Mesh selection should be based on the filtration system, desired flow rate, contact time, and required process performance. Contact Sorbents Direct for grade-selection assistance.
